Deal Statuses
What each deal status means
Deals on Play Money have different statuses that tell you whether you can invest and what stage the deal is in.
Status Overview
Open
Actively accepting investments. You can review the deal and click "Invest" to begin.
Request Access
Requires an invitation or approved access request before you can invest.
Closed
Fundraising is complete. No longer accepting new investments.
Cancelled
The deal was cancelled and is no longer available.
Open
The deal is actively accepting investments. You can review the deal details and click "Invest" to begin the investment process. Open deals show all available information — the company summary, team, traction, documents, and investment terms.
Request Access
This is an exclusive deal that requires an invitation or approved access request before you can invest. Instead of an "Invest" button, you will see a "Request Access" button. After you submit your request, the deal team reviews it and decides whether to grant you access. You will be notified by email when your access is approved.
Request Access deals may be exclusive to certain communities, investor networks, or invitation lists. If you arrived through a community signup link, you may already have access to your community's deals without needing to request it.
Closed
The deal is no longer accepting new investments. The fundraising round has been completed. You can still view the deal page to see information about the company, how much was raised, and how many investors participated. You can also follow a closed deal to stay updated on the company's future progress.
If you invested in this deal, your investment will be visible in your portfolio regardless of the deal's closed status.
Cancelled
The deal was cancelled and is no longer available on the platform. This is rare and can happen if the company decides not to proceed with the fundraise. If you had committed to a cancelled deal, your investment will be cancelled or refunded. See Investment Statuses for details on what happens to your investment.
Common Questions
Can a closed deal reopen? Generally, no. Once a deal closes, the fundraising round is finalized. In rare cases, a new round may be created as a separate deal on the platform.
How do I request access to a deal? Click the "Request Access" button on the deal page. You may be asked to provide a brief reason for your interest. The deal team will review your request and you will receive an email notification with the outcome.
How long does it take to get access approved? Approval times vary by deal. Some requests are approved within hours, while others may take a few business days depending on the deal team's review process.
I had access to a deal, but now it shows as closed. What happened? The deal completed its fundraising round. If you did not invest before it closed, the opportunity is no longer available. You can follow the deal to stay informed about the company, or browse other open deals.
