Customizing your Play Money experience
You can customize how Play Money looks and behaves. Here are the options available to you.
Available Preferences
Dark Mode
Switches the platform's color theme from a light background to a dark background. Easier on the eyes in low-light environments. All pages, cards, charts, and components adapt automatically.
Learn Mode
Highlights investment terms throughout the platform with interactive tooltips. Hover over a highlighted term to see a brief, plain-language explanation.
Dark Mode
When dark mode is enabled, all pages, cards, charts, and components adapt to the dark theme automatically. This is a popular choice for users who prefer darker interfaces, especially when browsing in low-light environments.
Learn Mode
Learn Mode is especially useful if you are new to angel investing. It helps you understand terms like "SPV," "carry," "K-1," and "funding close" without leaving the page you are on.
When enabled, investment terms and financial jargon throughout the platform are highlighted with interactive tooltips. Hover over or tap a highlighted term to see a brief, plain-language explanation. It works across the entire platform — on deal pages, your portfolio, settings, and more.

Where to Change Preferences
Go to your settings page (click your avatar, then "Settings") and scroll to the Preferences section. You will find toggles for Dark Mode and Learn Mode.
Click your avatar in the top-right corner. The menu includes quick toggles for both Dark Mode and Learn Mode, so you can switch without navigating to the settings page.
Changes take effect immediately.
Common Questions
Does dark mode affect anything besides appearance? No. Dark mode only changes the visual theme. It does not affect your data, functionality, or how other investors see your profile.
Can I turn off Learn Mode on specific pages? Learn Mode is a global setting — it is either on or off across the entire platform. If the highlighted terms become distracting once you are comfortable, simply toggle it off.
Will my preferences be remembered? Yes. Your preference settings are saved to your account and persist across devices and sessions. If you enable dark mode on your laptop, it will also be active when you log in on your phone.
