Why Link a Bank Account?

Linking a bank account allows the platform to automatically pull funds from your account when you invest. This is the fastest and most convenient payment method — once linked, your payments happen automatically with no manual steps.

How to Link Your Account

You can link a bank account during the investment flow or from your account settings. The process uses Plaid, a secure third-party service:

What Is Plaid?

When you link your bank through Plaid:

• Your bank login credentials are encrypted and handled entirely by Plaid — Play Money never sees or stores them
• Plaid verifies your account ownership and securely shares only the necessary account details (like account number and routing number) with the platform
• Plaid is used by major financial services companies and meets strict security and compliance standards

Account Types

You can link a checking account or a savings account. Either type works for funding investments. If you have multiple accounts at the same bank, you can choose which one to use during the linking process.

Setting a Default Account

If you have linked more than one bank account, you can set one as your default. Your default account will be pre-selected when you make future investments. You can change your default at any time from your account settings under the Bank Accounts section.

Removing a Bank Account

You can remove a linked bank account from your account settings. Navigate to the Bank Accounts section, find the account you want to remove, and select the option to disconnect it.

Common Questions

Is my bank information secure? Yes. Your bank credentials are handled entirely by Plaid and are never shared with Play Money. The connection between Plaid and your bank uses bank-grade encryption.

What banks are supported? Plaid supports thousands of banks and credit unions in the United States, including all major national banks. If your bank is not listed, you can use wire transfer as an alternative payment method.

Can I link multiple bank accounts? Yes. You can link as many accounts as you like and choose which one to use for each investment.

What if Plaid cannot connect to my bank? In rare cases, some banks may have connectivity issues with Plaid. If you are unable to link your account, try again later or use wire transfer as an alternative. Contact support if the issue persists.
